Discos’ Revenue Rises By 24% as Metered Customers Increase in Q4 2025

June 29 () — Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) recorded stronger operational performance in the fourth quarter of 2025, with revenue collection rising by nearly 24 percent year-on-year, driven by improved metering and increased electricity supply, according to the latest Electricity Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The report showed that total revenue collected by the Discos rose to ₦630.93 billion in Q4 2025 from ₦570.26 billion in the preceding quarter, representing a 10.64 percent quarter-on-quarter increase.

Compared with ₦509.84 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2024, revenue grew by 23.75 percent.

Electricity supply also improved during the quarter, increasing by 7.62 percent to 6,627.56 gigawatt-hours (GWh) from 6,158.52 GWh in Q3 2025. On a year-on-year basis, electricity supplied rose 6.76 percent from 6,207.85 GWh recorded in Q4 2024.

The number of electricity customers stood at 12.16 million in the review period, representing a 1.11 percent increase from 12.03 million in the previous quarter.

However, customer numbers declined 8.52 percent compared with 13.30 million recorded a year earlier.

Metering continued to improve during the quarter, with the number of metered customers rising to 6.97 million, up 4.58 percent from 6.66 million in Q3 2025 and 12.18 percent higher than the 6.21 million recorded in Q4 2024.

Conversely, the number of customers on estimated billing declined to 5.20 million in the fourth quarter, representing a 3.20 percent decrease from 5.37 million in the preceding quarter.

On a year-on-year basis, estimated customers dropped significantly by 26.67 percent from 7.09 million, reflecting continued progress in the deployment of electricity meters across the country’s power distribution network.
