The Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, has taken another strategic step towards deepening grassroots political engagement and strengthening democratic participation with the inauguration of a 20-man Polling Unit Team across the 10 Wards in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.
The inauguration, which took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, brought together party faithful, community stakeholders, government officials, and supporters from across the ten wards of the local government area. The newly inaugurated team was carefully selected from the ten wards of Isiala Ngwa North and is expected to play a critical role in grassroots mobilization, voter education, and political awareness ahead of future electoral activities.
Addressing the team during the ceremony, Hon. Onwusibe charged members to approach their assignment with dedication, honesty, and an unwavering commitment to the people. He emphasized the importance of reaching every ward, polling unit, and community to ensure that citizens remain actively involved in the democratic process.
According to the federal lawmaker, the team must serve as a bridge between the people and government, educating voters on their civic responsibilities while safeguarding the democratic rights of the electorate. He stressed the need for the members to conduct themselves as agents of positive change and defenders of the people’s mandate.
Hon. Onwusibe expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly enhance political consciousness, increase voter participation, and strengthen democratic institutions across Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency.
The event also attracted several notable government officials and political leaders who offered words of encouragement and guidance to the newly inaugurated team. Among them were the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, PhD; the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, Hon. Amb. Innocent Uruakpa; his Deputy Mayor; and the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Dr Matthew Ekwuribe.
The dignitaries commended Hon. Onwusibe for prioritizing grassroots organization and political inclusion, noting that strong polling unit structures remain essential for effective representation, democratic accountability, and sustained community development.
Political leaders and stakeholders at the event described the inauguration as a significant move aimed at consolidating grassroots support and ensuring greater citizen participation in governance, while reinforcing the growing culture of political engagement across Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal
Constituency.
