Showunmi Shows Dancing Steps, Mocks Atiku, Mark Over Court Judgement Sacking ADC Leadership

A former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Segun Showunmi, has mocked the African Democratic Congress (ADC), its presidential candidate, Atiku, and former Senate President David Mark following a Federal High Court judgement that invalidated the Mark-led leadership of the party.

Showunmi, who is now named as part of the Media and Strategic Communication Directorate of President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, took to social media on Thursday to ridicule the ADC leaders through a song and dance.

The reaction followed a judgement by the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, which declared the Senator David Mark-led caretaker leadership of the ADC illegal.

The court reportedly nullified all actions taken by the Mark-led leadership since July 27, 2026, including the party’s process that produced Atiku as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The judgement was delivered in a suit instituted by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former National Deputy Chairman of the ADC (North-East), who challenged the process through which the Mark-led caretaker committee assumed control of the party.

In its ruling on Thursday, the court found merit in Gombe’s suit and declared the caretaker committee responsible for organising the party’s presidential primary illegal.

Reacting to the development in a video shared on his X account, Showunmi danced in apparent celebration of the court’s decision, saying he had earlier warned the ADC leadership about the political consequences of its actions.

He also apologised sarcastically to Mark, suggesting that the former Senate President had underestimated the political implications of the leadership dispute.

“You cannot wish to beat a man at a game using the very playbook he invented alongside the late President @MBuhari.

“Some lessons in Politics are best learnt before the game begins. I hope this one has been learnt.

“I warned you!” Showunmi wrote.

The court ruling has thrown fresh uncertainty into the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. The  ruling came barely 24 hours after Atiku, whose name had earlier been published by INEC as a presidential candidate, commenced his campaign with a rally in Sokoto State..

The court also nullified the emergence of former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s National Secretary and other nominations made by the Mark-led leadership. The ADC has reportely indicated its intention to challenge the judgement at the Court of Appeal.
