2027: Oron Stakeholders, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, PDP Stalwarts Shut Door Against Senate Zoning Violators
…Endorse Ekong Sampson, Gov. Umo Eno, President Tinubu, Other APC Candidates

By Edet Okpo
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the political atmosphere in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District took a decisive turn yesterday as critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), PDP Chapter Chairmen and the Oron Chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors unanimously endorsed Senator Ekong Sampson, PhD, for a second term in the Senate.
The group also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Bassey Eno, Rep. Martins Esin (Oron Federal Constituency), Rt. Hon. Chief Kenim Onofiok (Oron State Constituency), Hon. Bassey Pius Bassey, Rt. Hon. Precious Selong and Engr. Okon Bassey as their preferred candidates.
The endorsement was announced by the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Oron Chapter, Elder Uwe Akan, during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting comprising youth organisations, women groups, APC ward chairmen and grassroots mobilisers across Oron Local Government Area.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
Akan, who described the endorsement as a product of painstaking assessment, said the people of Oro Nation have no reason to gamble with quality representation.
According to him, Senator Ekong Sampson has within two years redefined representation through tangible empowerment and legislative sagacity.

“Senator Ekong Sampson has touched lives directly. We have on record over N500 million business grants to women and youth, facilitation of over 60 federal employments for our sons and daughters, N100 million educational grant to 500 students, N10 million special support to law students, and donation of exotic cars, mini-buses and tricycles to about 30 constituents.
“In the area of legislation, he has sponsored critical bills including the Bill for the establishment of Federal University of Maritime Studies, Oron; Bill for Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi; and Bill for Federal Medical Centre, Eket. His projects cut across the 12 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom South,” Akan stated.
On President Tinubu, the Coordinator noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda, though tough at inception, is laying a solid foundation for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity and deserves consolidation beyond 2027.
He also lauded Governor Umo Eno, describing his ARISE Agenda as both compassionate and pragmatic, with visible impact in Oro Nation through road infrastructure, maritime development, prompt payment of salaries and gratuities, human capital development and the ongoing Maritime Hub.
Akan, however, issued a stern warning to political agitators attempting to truncate the established zoning arrangement in Akwa Ibom South.
“Oron Federal Constituency has taken its eight years in the Senate. The Senate is not a training ground for learners. It requires experience, competence and proven capacity. Oro people will not support any attempt to distort the peaceful zoning arrangement that guarantees equity and stability in Akwa Ibom South,” he warned.
The Chapter also passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Martins Esin and Rt. Hon. Kenim Onofiok for remaining accessible and people-centred in their representation.
Akan disclosed that beyond endorsement on paper, the group has activated ward-to-ward and door-to-door mobilisation structures to deliver all endorsed candidates in 2027.
“This is a commitment to work and deliver. We have the structures, we have the people, and we are ready to mobilise Oron for total victory,” he added.
Meanwhile, in a related development, PDP Stalwarts including Chapter Chairmen from Oron Federal Constituency have also endorsed Senator Ekong Sampson ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections, insisting that the 2027 Senatorial seat is zoned to Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.
The PDP Chairmen made the resolution at the weekend during a strategic meeting in Oron. According to them, Senator Ekong Sampson has upped the ante of performance in the National Assembly and deserves the support of all stakeholders from the Senatorial District.
The high-powered meeting was attended by former Chairman of Oron LGA, Rt. Hon. Victor Ini Okon; Personal Assistant to the Governor, Hon. Godwin Onwiebiak; Councillor for Oron Ward 10, Hon. Daniel Massodi; Hon. Bassey Umo; Supervisor for Works, Hon. Victor Andy, APC ward chairmen, ward coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, women leaders, youth leaders and other notable stakeholders.
