Top 5 Most Visited Websites In Nigeria In 2026

Google remained Nigeria’s biggest website by traffic in September 2026.

A betting platform attracted more website visits than YouTube.

ChatGPT made the top five and recorded the strongest year-on-year growth among the leading sites.

Mobile traffic dominated several of the highest-ranked websites.

The figures measure website visits, not individual users.

October 16, () – Nigeria’s web traffic in September produced a ranking that looks very different from the usual picture of search engines and social media dominating everything.

A betting platform climbed above one of the world’s biggest entertainment sites, an AI platform secured a place among the country’s biggest web destinations, and one category generated tens of millions of visits almost entirely from mobile phones.

Google remained difficult to challenge at the top, but the more revealing story sits beneath it.

Google

Google was comfortably Nigeria’s most visited website with an estimated 322.91 million visits.

About 243.42 million visits came from mobile devices, giving mobile a 75.38 percent share of its Nigerian traffic.

Even with that enormous lead, Google recorded an 11.59 percent decline compared with September 2025.

SportyBet

SportyBet took second place with 50.09 million visits, beating YouTube on Nigerian web traffic during the month.

Its traffic was overwhelmingly mobile. About 97.48 percent of visits came from phones, while desktop accounted for only a small fraction.

SportyBet also recorded 7.87 percent year-on-year growth.

YouTube

YouTube ranked third with 41.70 million visits.

Its website traffic was more evenly divided between devices than most platforms in the top five, with desktop accounting for 51.86 percent and mobile 48.14 percent.

Traffic fell 14.09 percent from August and 7.62 percent compared with September 2025.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT recorded 34.27 million visits, enough to secure fourth place.

It was also the fastest-growing website among the top five on a year-on-year basis, with traffic increasing 21.46 percent.

Unlike Google and SportyBet, most of ChatGPT’s Nigerian web traffic came from desktop devices.

Computers accounted for 75.61 percent of visits.

That makes its traffic pattern one of the more unusual entries in the ranking.

XVideos

XVideos completed the top five with 32.44 million visits from Nigeria.

Its traffic was almost entirely mobile, with phones accounting for 98.83 percent of visits.

The adult website still made the top five despite traffic falling 13.28 percent compared with September 2025.

50 Million Visits Does Not Mean 50 Million Nigerians

The figures are estimates of website visits, not the number of individual Nigerians using each platform.

One person can visit a website several times in a month, meaning 50.09 million SportyBet visits do not equal 50.09 million bettors.

The data also measures web traffic rather than the full audience of each platform. Activity taking place inside mobile applications, including YouTube, Facebook or ChatGPT apps, may not be reflected in the same way.

Semrush builds its traffic estimates using clickstream data and modelling rather than private analytics supplied directly by the companies.

The ranking should therefore be read as a snapshot of where Nigerian web traffic went in September, not a census of every Nigerian online.

What it does show clearly is how varied that traffic has become.

Search remains in another league, but betting, video, AI and adult content are all competing heavily for Nigerian attention online.
