A young Nigerian has urged citizens who usually travel to their villages during the Christmas and New Year period to reconsider their plans ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The advice follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) scheduling of the Presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.

According to the young man, Nigerians who want to participate in the election should make efforts to remain close to their polling units during the election period.

He noted that those who traditionally travel home during the festive season could postpone their trips until after the election, stressing that missing one Christmas visit would not lead to any serious consequences.

He said, “If you like travelling to the village during the Christmas and New Year period, you might be the reason INEC scheduled the presidential election for January 16, 2027.

“As Nigerians who are suffering, we must do everything possible to be close to our polling units during the election period. So, if possible, don’t travel this Christmas.

“If you miss this year’s trip, nobody will disown you. You can travel after the election.”
