Anyaso Campaign Council Visits Ugwueke Flood Victims
The Chima Anyaso Campaign Council has visited communities affected by recent flooding in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, to sympathise with victims and condole with the family of a 37-year-old trader who reportedly died in the disaster.
The delegation, led by the Director-General of the campaign organisation, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, visited some of the affected communities to assess the impact of the flooding and convey the solidarity of the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso.
The flooding, which followed torrential rainfall, reportedly destroyed homes, farmlands, businesses and personal belongings, while displacing several residents.
At Amaokai Autonomous Community, the delegation visited the family of the deceased trader, identified as Ejiuwa, who reportedly lost his life while returning from the market during the flood.
The team commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for strength and comfort to enable them cope with the loss.
The delegation also visited Etiti, Ndelu and Amaeze autonomous communities, where it inspected some affected areas and interacted with residents who lost their homes, businesses, investments and other belongings.
At Ndelu, the team was received by a former Manager of Golden Guinea Nigeria Plc, Chief Paul Okorie, before proceeding to other affected locations.
Speaking during the visits, Okechukwu assured the affected residents that they would not be abandoned in the aftermath of the disaster.
He conveyed Anyaso’s sympathy to the bereaved family and other victims, urging the affected residents not to lose hope as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
He said the campaign organisation was concerned about the welfare of the people and would continue to identify with them in difficult moments.
Members of the delegation included the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Sandra Anya; Chairman, Campaign Advisory Board, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha; and Councillor representing Ugwueke/Ezeukwu Ward, Hon. Chukwu Chidiebere Ude, among other directors of the campaign council.
