Controversial Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has stirred reactions online after calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide financial support for artistes in the country.

The rapper made the appeal while reacting to a post shared by President Tinubu on X on Friday about his meeting with entertainment and media executive Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group in Paris.

Odumodublvck urged the President to go beyond acknowledging the global recognition Nigeria’s entertainment industry has earned and provide financial assistance to artistes.

According to him, government funding for entertainers could help reduce conflicts between artistes and record labels while also creating opportunities for upcoming talents.

He wrote:

“Baba come give boys advance from government funds. Na you go be the biggest label boss. Because of you, artists no go fight their labels and underground artists go see something.

“Baba, come sign all of us. And I mean all of us.”

In other news… Nigerian singer Timaya has sparked reactions after a statement attributed to him criticised Nigerian politicians over their alleged preference for living abroad with their families.

In the statement circulating on X, the singer said his frequent travels outside Nigeria have allowed him to observe politicians spending time abroad with their families.

He said:

“God take any Politician wey go make Nigerians crai again, I travel abroad everytime and I see them with their families there. Their families don’t stay here, they’re all selfish, even the ones that’re just coming and promising us they’ll be better”

His comments have drawn mixed reactions from social media users, with some agreeing with his criticism while others questioned his own relationship with political events.

Some users specifically referenced Timaya’s performance at the 2023 Renewed Hope Youth Concert in Abuja, an event organised by APC youths ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration.
