Akpabio, Eno, Abbas Praise Rep. Umoh for Effective Representation
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; his wife, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio; Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, have commended the member representing Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara Federal Constituency, Dr. Patrick Umoh, for his effective representation
They gave the commendation during Umoh’s Constituency Briefing and Mega Empowerment Programme held on August 15, 2026, at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
At the event, the lawmaker presented more than 700 empowerment items, cash grants and other forms of support to his constituents.

The items included three ambulances, 10 cars, five mini-buses, 55 tricycles, 37 motorcycles, 37 deep freezers and 33 sewing machines. He also distributed 300 bags of fertilizer to 21 beneficiaries and provided N20 million in cash grants.
According to Umoh, the programme was designed to help people improve their businesses, become self-reliant, create jobs and improve their standard of living.
The lawmaker also presented a report of his activities since he was elected to the National Assembly. He said he had facilitated 120 federal jobs, contributed to 66 bills, presented 18 motions and handled 16 public petitions.
He also highlighted his leadership positions in the House, including his former role as Chairman of the House Committee on Monitoring, Evaluation and Implementation of the Legislative Agenda. He is currently Chairman of the House Committee on Health Institutions and Chairman of the Nigeria-Tanzania Parliamentary Relations Committee.
Umoh said the empowerment programme was not just about giving people items, but about creating opportunities that would help them build sustainable livelihoods and improve their lives.
Representing the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the member representing Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency, Hon. Clement Jimbo, described the programme as a clear example of the benefits of democracy.
Akpabio, in a message delivered by Jimbo, described Umoh as his political protégé and praised his commitment to public service. He encouraged him to continue with the good work.
Also speaking, Governor Umo Eno, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, described Umoh’s efforts as a good example of effective representation.
He commended the lawmaker for bringing federal government opportunities and empowerment programmes closer to the people and for maintaining a strong relationship with his constituents.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, who was represented by the House Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, also praised Umoh for his achievements.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the items and financial support wisely to improve their businesses and livelihoods.
The Speaker described empowerment as an investment in the economic future of the people, saying the items would help beneficiaries start or expand their businesses.
The wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, also commended the programme, especially its focus on women and youths.
She thanked Umoh for bringing stakeholders together to witness the empowerment programme and for making the welfare of his constituents a priority.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Envoy Nsentip Akpabio, described Rep. Umoh as an example of effective representation.
