JAMB Breaks CBT Centre Bottleneck, Allows Candidates Upload O’Level Results From Home

• JAMB has introduced an online system that allows 2026 UTME candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results without visiting CBT centres, potentially saving them the cost, time and stress associated with physical uploads.

• Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically authenticate candidates’ O’Level results against records held by the relevant examination bodies before the results are uploaded to their JAMB profiles, strengthening the integrity of the admission process.

• The initiative is expected to ease pressure on CBT centres during periods of heavy patronage, long queues and network difficulties, while giving candidates a remote alternative for completing the O’Level upload requirement.

• JAMB said the system would help tackle the submission of fraudulent or unverified results, misplaced or mixed-up paper certificates and mistakes in the manual entry of examination subjects and grades.

August 24, () — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system allowing candidates seeking admission to Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes.

The new service, which initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is expected to reduce candidates’ dependence on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for O’Level result uploads, particularly during periods of high patronage.

Under the arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ results directly with the relevant examination bodies before the verified results are uploaded to their profiles.

The Board, in a statement signed on Monday by its Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the initiative was designed to make its services easier, faster, safer and more convenient while eliminating challenges associated with the traditional manual upload process.

How The New Verification System Works

JAMB explained that candidates would first be required to obtain a result Verification Code by visiting the designated result verification portal.

Candidates are expected to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), select the number of O’Level sittings and indicate the relevant examination body or bodies. They will also provide their email address and GSM number before making payment through the available payment gateway.

After payment, candidates will provide their examination details, including examination number, examination series and examination year.

Upon successful verification of the submitted details against the records of the relevant examination body, a Verification Code will be issued to the candidate.

At the second stage, candidates are required to send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019.

JAMB said the verified result would subsequently be uploaded, with candidates receiving a notification confirming the submission.

Two-Sitting Candidates Also Covered

Candidates with two O’Level sittings are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.” After entering the Verification Code, the two verified results will be displayed, enabling candidates to select the required subjects.

The Board said candidates must select a minimum of five and a maximum of nine subjects, with no subject selected more than once, before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.”

A notification will be sent to candidates upon successful completion of the upload.

JAMB Targets Long Queues, CBT Centre Congestion

The new system is expected to provide relief for candidates who have previously had to visit CBT centres to complete O’Level result uploads, particularly during periods when the centres experience heavy patronage.

JAMB said the online service would provide a useful alternative when candidates are confronted with long queues, network-related difficulties and other challenges associated with physical visits to CBT centres.

Beyond convenience, the Board said the integration of its e-Facility platform with examination bodies would enable candidates’ results to be checked against official records held by the issuing bodies before they are uploaded to their profiles.

According to JAMB, the innovation will also address cases involving misplaced or mixed-up paper certificates and the submission of unverified or fraudulent results.

It will further reduce errors associated with the manual entry of subjects and grades, which could create complications for candidates during admission processing.

By electronically obtaining verified results from examination bodies, the Board said it would be able to reduce dependence on physical documents and manual intervention in the process.

It also said it would continue to strengthen collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies while deploying technology to simplify its processes and improve the overall candidate experience.
