There have been discussions among some APC members regarding reports that strategic party offices may be concentrated in Bende Local Government Area.

‎If this perception holds, it could undermine the party’s efforts to broaden its electoral appeal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎Political parties thrive on inclusion, equity, and a sense of belonging. Every local government area contributes members, resources, and votes to the growth of the party. Concentrating major leadership positions in one LGA, regardless of political weight, risks alienating committed stakeholders across the other 16 local governments.

‎For many party members, the issue goes beyond appointments. It is about fairness. A party that expects its members to mobilize voters, campaign, and make sacrifices must also demonstrate that opportunities are shared across all senatorial zones and LGAs.

‎Abia is a diverse state with capable leaders in every part. Excluding or marginalizing any section could breed resentment, weaken grassroots structures, and trigger defections or voter apathy. Political history shows that internal injustice often damages a party more than opposition from outside.

‎The APC has made noticeable progress in strengthening its presence across Abia in recent years. Sustaining that momentum will require decisions that unite rather than divide. While Bende remains a stronghold for the party, according to reports from recent activities, balancing representation has become even more critical.

‎Party leaders must therefore ensure that appointments reflect competence, merit, and equitable representation. Every zone deserves to feel it has a stake in the future of the APC. A broad-based leadership structure will strengthen internal cohesion, boost members’ confidence, and improve the party’s chances in future elections.

‎Ultimately, no political party wins by satisfying only one bloc. Victory comes from building a coalition of interests, respecting diversity, and giving every stakeholder a reason to stay committed.

If a disproportionate number of key offices were to be concentrated in one LGA, the APC in Abia risks weakening the very foundation it needs to contest and win power.
