Lagos Shuts Down Ketu Club, Alapere Hotel for Breaking Noise Rules
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has closed down a nightclub and a hotel in Lagos for flouting noise limits and disregarding environmental directives.
The enforcement covered Westgate Arena Club located on Apostolic Church Close, Olowora, and Dave Premium and Suites on Alhaji Irorun Street, Alapere, Ketu.
According to LASEPA, the clampdown was carried out on the orders of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab. The agency said the action forms part of the state’s push to protect residents’ wellbeing and maintain a cleaner, quieter Lagos.
LASEPA explained that both establishments were sealed after multiple complaints about loud, disruptive noise, and after they failed to comply with abatement notices and other regulatory instructions earlier served.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, said the agency will sustain its enforcement drive across the state.
“Protecting the environment is a shared task. Residents and business owners must comply with environmental regulations,” Ajayi said.
“We will intensify actions against defaulters to cut down pollution and prevent the health hazards that come with excessive noise,” he added.
He also called on Lagosians, hotel operators, and nightlife businesses to adopt responsible practices and cooperate with regulators to build a healthier city.
Ajayi restated that LASEPA remains committed to applying all lawful measures to ensure full adherence to environmental laws.
