JAMB Portal Glitches Frustrate Students Seeking Institution, Course Changes in Umuahia
UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE – Hundreds of candidates in Umuahia, Abia State, have expressed frustration over persistent difficulties accessing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal for change of institution and course applications.
Affected candidates who visited XYZ Technologies, a JAMB-accredited centre in Umuahia, told Media Today Nigeria that they have been unable to complete their applications due to what appears to be a prolonged outage on JAMB’s e-facility portal.
The portal, accessible through https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/Login, has reportedly been displaying an “unavailable” message, preventing candidates from making critical changes ahead of the admission process.
According to staff members at XYZ Technologies, the issue has affected numerous candidates over the past several days.
“We have already informed JAMB administrators about the development, but there has been no significant improvement. Students continue to come daily hoping the portal will be restored,” a staff member said.
One of the affected candidates, who spoke with Media Today Nigeria, lamented the financial and emotional burden caused by the repeated failed attempts.
“For the past three days, I have been spending money on transportation to come here and process my change of institution, but each time the portal is unavailable. It’s frustrating because admission season is drawing closer,” the candidate said.
The situation has left many students worried about their chances of securing admission, especially those who need to change their institutions or courses to align with their admission prospects.
Many candidates fear that prolonged technical issues could deny them the opportunity to make necessary corrections before admission processes begin in earnest.
As anxiety grows among applicants, stakeholders are calling on JAMB to urgently address the portal challenges and provide clear communication to affected candidates.
With admissions fast approaching, the lingering question remains: What will be the fate of students whose academic futures depend on accessing the JAMB portal before critical deadlines expire?
