October 07, () – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session lower, as market capitalisation declined by N110 billion, while the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) fell 176.75 points amid broader selling pressure.
Market capitalisation opened at N162.495 trillion but closed at N162.385 trillion, while the ASI declined from an opening level of 250,273.50 to 250,096.75 points.
The session recorded 23 gainers against 31 decliners, reflecting a negative market breadth as selling pressure outweighed buying interest.

VERITASKAP rounded out the top five decliners, losing 4.42 percent (to close at N1.08 from N1.13).
The session’s negative breadth suggests a cautious investor mood, with more stocks closing lower despite the relatively modest decline in the benchmark index.
The market may remain sensitive to profit-taking and stock-specific developments in the near term, particularly as investors reassess valuations and positions around corporate earnings.
Dangote Cement, HBM Nigeria Plc, Custodian Investment, Chapel Hill Denham, Vitafoam Nigeria and Fidelity Bank were among the equities that closed flat during the session.
