"Chinese Must Go"- Comedian Ogbuefi Challenges Igbo Billionaires To Build Factories In South-East

Comedian Ogbuefi has called on wealthy businessmen from the South-East to return home and invest more in factories and industries, saying such investments could help strengthen local businesses and reduce dependence on imported goods.

His comments came amid protests by some Nigerian traders at the Trade Fair in Lagos over the presence of Chinese businesses in the country.

Reacting to the development, Ogbuefi recalled that he had previously encouraged people from the region to return home and focus on industrialising their communities.

“When I Was Telling Our People To Go Back Home And Start Industrializing Our Region, They Refused To Listen. Now They’re At Trade Fair In Lagos Protesting That ‘Chinese Must Go’, Saying They’re Here To Destroy Their Businesses.

“What Are Our Billionaires Doing? They Should Come Back To Igbo Land And Start Building Factories And Industries Before It’s Too Late.

“They Can Even Collaborate With State Governments To Build Private Power Plants That Will Support These Industries, Just Like Alex Otti Has Done In Abia State,” he said.

Ogbuefi argued that increased investment in manufacturing and industrial infrastructure within the region could create more opportunities for businesses and help local entrepreneurs compete more effectively.

He also highlighted the importance of reliable electricity in supporting industries, suggesting that private power projects could complement government efforts and provide businesses with the energy needed to operate efficiently.
