The drama began on September 1, 2026, when Erigga shared a post appreciating musicians who did not grow up with financial privilege but worked hard to build their careers.

Although the rapper did not mention anyone by name, his comment appeared to strike a nerve with Davido, who is from one of Nigeria’s prominent and wealthy families.

Davido reacted to the post the following day, September 2, arguing that people who came from wealthy backgrounds and still worked hard to achieve success also deserved recognition.

The singer described Erigga’s initial message as “useless” and also insulted the rapper in his response.

Erigga, however, refused to back down and returned to social media on September 3 with a series of posts aimed at Davido.

In his first response, he questioned why Davido had reacted strongly to what he described as a simple shoutout.

“Na shoutout to the ones when get it out the mud without family money dey make David crash out? From where to where??”

He continued by taking a swipe at Davido’s privileged background, writing:

The rapper became even more direct in another post, accusing Davido of trying to intimidate or suppress his opinion because of his family’s wealth.

“Because ur papa get money make we no happy again for our small wins ??? I’m disappointed IN YOU SLOVIDO. NA ME U WAN BULLY? NA ME U WAN OPPRESS?”

In his final post, Erigga shifted attention to the language Davido allegedly used against him during the exchange.

“Big love to everyone on the spectrum, Down syndrome, autism, etc… it can never be cool to insult people with a disease,”
