The NGX extended its upward run on Tuesday, with the All-Share Index gaining 0.77 percent to close at 246,082.63 points, while market capitalisation rose by ₦1.216 trillion to ₦158.955 trillion.

September 01, () — The Nigerian equities market sustained its positive momentum on Tuesday, with the benchmark index and market capitalisation recording another session of gains.
The NGX All-Share Index opened at 244,199.39 points and rose by 1,883.24 points to close at 246,082.63 points, representing a 0.77 percent increase.
Market capitalisation also climbed from ₦157.739 trillion at the opening to ₦158.955 trillion at the close, adding approximately ₦1.216 trillion to investors’ wealth.
Market breadth remained firmly positive, with 42 equities appreciating against 19 decliners, indicating sustained buying interest across the market.
FTN Cocoa, McNichols lead gainers

FTN Cocoa Processors Plc emerged among the best-performing equities, gaining 10.00 percent (from ₦7.50 to ₦8.25).
McNichols Plc also advanced 10.00 percent (rising from ₦4.50 to ₦4.95).
SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc followed with a 9.94 percent gain (moving from ₦3.12 to ₦3.43).
Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc rose 9.57 percent (from ₦1.88 to ₦2.06).
Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc completed the top five gainers, appreciating 9.52 percent (from ₦4.20 to ₦4.60).
Tripple Gee leads decliners

On the decliners’ side, Tripple Gee and Company Plc recorded the largest decline, falling 9.72 percent (from ₦2.88 to ₦2.60).
ABC Transport Plc declined 9.52 percent (from ₦5.25 to ₦4.75).
Nahco Plc shed 9.22 percent (moving from ₦150.20 to ₦136.35).
R.T. Briscoe Plc fell 9.21 percent (from ₦11.40 to ₦10.35).
UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust declined 4.93 percent (from ₦14.20 to ₦13.50), completing the top five decliners.
Several major equities closed unchanged during the session, including MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Dangote Cement Plc, Custodian Investment Plc, John Holt Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc, alongside others.
The Tuesday session therefore extended the market’s recent recovery, with the ASI now closing at 246,082.63 points and market capitalisation reaching N158.955 trillion. The sustained positive breadth also suggests that the latest advance is being supported by relatively broad participation rather than gains in only a handful of stocks.
