Radisson, Owoyemi To Receive ANJET Honours For Hospitality Growth

• Radisson Group and hospitality investor Chief Tajudeen Owoyemi are set to receive ANJET honours for their contributions to Nigeria’s hospitality industry.

August 25, () — The Radisson Group and hospitality investor, Chief Tajudeen Owoyemi, will be honoured by the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET) for their contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s hospitality industry.

The awards will be presented at ANJET’s 2026 Conference, scheduled for October at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The conference will bring tourism and hospitality stakeholders together to discuss developments in the industry, with a focus on the Tinubu administration’s immigration reforms and their implications for tourism.

According to the ANJET leadership, the recognition reflects the contributions of both recipients to the growth and development of Nigeria’s hospitality sector over the years.

Owoyemi’s contribution dates back to 2005, when he opened Avalon Hotel Offa at a time when upscale privately owned hotels were still relatively uncommon outside Lagos and Ibadan.

The hotel went on to establish a reputation for its facilities and service delivery, while Owoyemi’s subsequent hospitality investments created employment and contributed to the development of the local hospitality market.

The ANJET leadership said Owoyemi had, over nearly 25 years, steadily influenced Nigeria’s hospitality landscape through his investments and commitment to the sector.

The association is also recognising Radisson for its long-standing presence and expansion in Nigeria.

Radisson entered the Nigerian market in 2011 with Radisson Blu Anchorage in Victoria Island, Lagos, and has since expanded its managed-property portfolio.

Its properties now include locations in Lagos and Abeokuta, with further developments planned.

Beyond hotel operations, the group’s hospitality academy has also contributed to skills development in the sector, an area regarded as critical to improving service standards and strengthening Nigeria’s tourism workforce.

The October conference is expected to provide a platform for industry stakeholders to examine the opportunities and challenges facing Nigerian tourism, including how immigration policies can influence international travel, investment and the wider hospitality economy.
