Stakeholders and political supporters from Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Comrade Enyeribe Odinakachi Nwankwo for appointment to the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The stakeholders made the appeal during a gathering in support of Odinakachi, describing him as a grassroots politician with strong ties to the people and a record of supporting the growth of the APC in Ukwa West.

Former APC Chairman of Ukwa West, Elder Uju Nwarie, described Odinakachi as a loyal party member and dependable grassroots leader who had supported the party structure in the area.

Nwarie urged President Tinubu to consider Odinakachi for the NDDC Board, arguing that his appointment would give Ukwa West a stronger voice in an agency responsible for development across the Niger Delta.

He also drew attention to the infrastructure challenges facing the oil-producing local government, including poor roads and inadequate development, stressing the need for greater attention to the area.

The people of Ukwa West, said the demand for Odinakachi’s appointment was based on his character, leadership qualities and connection with the grassroots.

Ukwa West had suffered marginalisation and expressed confidence that Odinakachi would use the opportunity, if appointed, to ensure that development reaches the communities.

The stakeholders also commended President Tinubu over what they described as efforts toward political equity in the Ukwa Federal Constituency, South East and Abia with Hon Samuel Okezie Nwogu, an Asa man as the APC Flag bearer for the House of Representatives, Ukwa Federal Constituency after being held for twenty years by the Ukwa East counterpart while pledging continued support for his administration.

They appealed to the President to extend the same consideration to Ukwa West by appointing a credible son of the area to the NDDC Board.

For the stakeholders, the campaign is ultimately about representation, development and giving the oil-producing communities of Ukwa West a stronger voice within the NDDC.
