August 18, () — American rapper, French Montana, has met with Nigerian billionaire and businessman, Aliko Dangote, in St. Tropez, France, sharing photos from their meeting.

Montana described Dangote as the richest Black man in the world and asked his followers what business idea they would present to him if they had the same opportunity.

“I JUST LINKED UP WITH THE RICHEST BLACK MAN IN THE WORLD, ALIKO DANGOTE. IF YOU WAS ME, WHAT WOULD YOU ASK HIM FIRST? WHAT WOULD BE THE FIRST BUSINESS PLAN OR IDEA YOU PRESENT TO HIM?”

The post sparked reactions from fans and entrepreneurs, with many sharing the ideas they would pitch to Dangote.

For Montana, the meeting also reflects his long-standing connection to Africa. Born in Morocco and raised in the United States, the rapper has continued to maintain ties with the continent through his music and philanthropic work.

His connection with Nigeria became more visible in 2023 when he travelled to Lagos to shoot the music video for “Wish U Well” with Swae Lee and Nigerian singer Lojay.

Parts of the video were filmed in Makoko, where Montana and Swae Lee spent time with residents.

The visit later led to a major donation. Montana announced plans to provide 500 canoes for Makoko after seeing how important the waterways were to residents for moving people, goods and services. The canoes were also expected to be made by local craftsmen, supporting jobs within the community.

Montana has also supported communities elsewhere in Africa. While filming his 2017 hit “Unforgettable” with Swae Lee in Uganda, he supported efforts that helped establish the Suubi Health Centre, which provides maternal healthcare to underserved communities.

His latest meeting with Dangote brings together two different sides of his connection to Africa: entertainment and business.

While Montana has not indicated that a specific deal came from the meeting, his question has opened a wider conversation about the opportunities that could emerge when major entertainment figures connect with some of Africa’s biggest business leaders.
