Anyaso Congratulates Bende Women, Urges Leaders to Honour Agreements
The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has congratulated women of Bende Local Government Area on the successful hosting of their 2026 August Women Meeting.
The annual gathering, held yesterday, August 17, 2026, at the Bende Local Government Headquarters, brought together women from various communities across the constituency for fellowship, unity and discussions on issues affecting their families and communities.

Addressing the women at the event, Anyaso commended them for sustaining the August Meeting tradition, describing it as an important platform for strengthening relationships, promoting community development and fostering unity among women in Bende.
He also used the occasion to stress the importance of honouring agreements and keeping commitments, warning that reneging on agreements could erode trust and create unnecessary conflict within communities.
Anyaso said it was disturbing when people attempted to disown agreements they had willingly entered into simply because circumstances had changed.
He recalled the agreement reached in 2019 concerning the rotation of representation in Bende Federal Constituency, saying that the arrangement was acceptable to the parties at the time but had become contentious following changes in political circumstances.
“In 2019, when they accepted the agreement, it was in their favour, but they never knew that the table could turn, and now what they agreed upon is hurting them,” he said.

He maintained that agreements should be respected regardless of whether they remain convenient, stressing that keeping one’s word promotes trust, strengthens relationships and contributes to peace and stability in society.
“It was in this land of the people that the agreement was made that after Ikwuisi, for eight years, an Umunna man will go to the House of Representatives. I have offered myself for this task, and I know that with your support, I shall win the election because we are standing on a just cause,” Anyaso said.
The Labour Party candidate thanked the women for their warm reception and acknowledged their contributions to the development of Bende.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare, empowerment and economic opportunities of women across the constituency.
Earlier, the wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, represented at the event by Dr. Ezinn Kalu, urged the women to continue supporting the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
She assured them that the state government remained committed to executing more projects and programmes capable of directly impacting communities across Abia State.
