Dr Dominic Alancha, National Coordinator of the Concerned National APC Stakeholders Forum, delivers his address during the inauguration of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Canvassers and State Coordinators in Abuja on Thursday.

Concerned National APC Stakeholders Forum tells supporters of President Bola Tinubu that the 2027 re-election campaign must be anchored on performance.

Forum inaugurates state coordinators and Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Canvassers nationwide, charging them to build formidable structures from polling units to wards.

National Coordinator, Dr Dominic Alancha, directs coordinators to engage Nigerians respectfully, explain the Tinubu administration’s reforms, listen to citizens’ concerns and counter misinformation with facts.

Group says the battle for 2027 will be won at the grassroots, urging canvassers to maintain continuous community engagement, recruit credible volunteers and mobilise voters to secure victory for the APC.

The Concerned National APC Stakeholders Forum has urged supporters of President Bola Tinubu to prosecute the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s expected 2027 re-election campaign through performance, ideas and constructive engagement rather than intimidation, insults or political abuse.

The group made the declaration on Thursday as it inaugurated state coordinators under the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Canvassers initiative, describing the exercise as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing the newly inaugurated coordinators, the National Coordinator of the forum, Dominic Alancha, said the organisation remained committed to the ideals of the APC and was determined to contribute meaningfully to the party’s success at the next polls through peaceful, issue-based political engagement.

According to him, although the road to the 2027 election would be marked by intense political competition, criticism and attempts to weaken the party’s structures, members of the forum must remain focused on organisation, communication and grassroots mobilisation.

“We recognise that the road to 2027 will not be without challenges. There will be political competition, criticism, disagreements and attempts to weaken our structure.

“But we are prepared. We will organise. We will mobilise. We will communicate. We will engage. And we will work tirelessly at the grassroots,” Alancha said.

He stressed that Nigerians should evaluate political leadership on the basis of tangible achievements rather than empty rhetoric.

“Our message to Nigerians is simple: let us judge leadership by its record, policies, direction and capacity to deliver—not merely by political rhetoric.

“Our campaign must be a campaign of ideas, engagement, persuasion and performance—not intimidation or abuse,” he declared.

Alancha maintained that elections are ultimately won at the grassroots, insisting that the real determinants of electoral victory are ordinary Nigerians who cast their ballots in communities across the country.

He said market women, farmers, artisans, professionals, youths, civil servants, religious leaders, traditional institutions and other citizens—not merely politicians who dominate television screens and campaign podiums—would determine the outcome of the next general election.

According to him, the APC’s mobilisation strategy must therefore extend beyond Abuja and state capitals into every ward, community and polling unit.

“That is why we are inaugurating State Coordinators and Grassroots Canvassers today. You are not merely coordinators. You are ambassadors of our movement.

“You are grassroots communicators. You are vote mobilisers. You are listeners to the people. And you are frontline defenders of the democratic mandate of our party,” he said.

Alancha tasked the coordinators with explaining the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians while acknowledging the economic and social challenges confronting many citizens.

“Our responsibility is to engage Nigerians respectfully and honestly on issues. We must explain the policies and programmes of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, communicate the reforms being undertaken, acknowledge the challenges confronting our people and, most importantly, demonstrate why continuity, stability and progressive governance matter to Nigeria’s future,” he said.

He cautioned against arrogance in political engagement, urging party members to listen carefully to citizens’ concerns.

“We must never engage the people with arrogance. We must listen to their concerns. Where Nigerians are angry, we must listen. Where they are hopeful, we must strengthen that hope. Where they do not understand government policies, we must explain them. And where misinformation is being circulated, we must respond with facts, maturity and civility.”

Build Bridges, Not Political Enemies

The APC chieftain further directed the newly inaugurated coordinators to establish functional structures across their respective states, local government areas, wards and polling units by recruiting credible canvassers and maintaining continuous engagement with communities.

He said victory in the 2027 election would depend largely on the party’s effectiveness at the polling-unit level.

“Know your communities. Know your people. Identify their concerns. Recruit credible canvassers. Communicate our message. Mobilise eligible voters. And maintain contact with the people—not only during election season, but continuously.

“If we deliver the polling units, we will deliver the wards. If we deliver the wards, we will deliver the local governments. If we deliver the local governments, we will deliver the states. And if we deliver the states, we will secure victory in 2027,” he said.

Alancha also warned party members against engaging in divisive Politics or spreading false information for political advantage.

“I urge every coordinator here today: Do not create unnecessary enemies. Do not insult political opponents. Do not spread unverified information. Do not allow personal ambition to destroy collective interest. Instead, build bridges. Engage communities. Win people through persuasion. And demonstrate that progressive Politics can be conducted with dignity and responsibility,” he added.

In his keynote address, guest speaker, Alabi Femi, who spoke on the theme, “Engendering Progressive Governance: The Role of Citizens,” described the inauguration as an important opportunity to deepen democratic participation and strengthen grassroots engagement across the country.

He urged political actors and citizens alike to embrace respectful dialogue, promote national unity and support initiatives capable of advancing democratic governance and national development.

“Let us therefore engage the people with respect, communicate with facts, promote unity and support initiatives that contribute to a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” Femi said.
